ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR)-- The race for the U.S. Senate in Missouri between Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill and Republican challenger U.S. Representative Todd Akin is one of the most closely watched races in the country.
The Republicans were targeting McCaskill`s seat thinking she was vulnerable in this election cycle. Akin won a tough three person primary to become the Republican candidate.
Then came Akin`s now infamous comments about rape and abortion on The Jaco Report when he said that a woman`s body is able to shut down a pregnancy in the case of a 'legitimate rape.' There was all kinds of outrage following the comments. Akin has repeatedly apologized for the remarks.
Polls have been all over the board on this race. We`ll wait and see what happens on election day.
