BRIDGETON, MO (KTVI) - The Cardinals returned to St. Louis ahead of Game 3 of the NLCS against the San Francisco Giants. FOX 2 was on the tarmac when the teams flight landed.

This trip home was a little tough for a couple of reasons. First, the cards did not bring home a Game 2 win. Second, it was really, really, really early.

Our own Mazda Roadrunner Bobby Hughes was the only photojournalist escorted onto the tarmac when the Delta Airlines flight landed around 3:50 AM Tuesday. Cards skipper Mike Matheny led the team back home to try to take Game 3 at Busch Stadium, after leaving Game 2 to the Giants in San Francisco.

These tough men were smiling along with their tough front-office staff, wives, and even kids. Everyone got off the plane and boarded buses and limousines, headed for a few hours of rest before practice for Wednesday's home game.

The National League Championship Series is tied 1-1 after the San Francisco Giants beat the Cardinals 7-1 Monday. An opportunity for redemption, and another step in another historic postseason run, starts at Busch at 3:07pm Wednesday. FOX 2 will air the game live.
