ST. LOUIS (KPLR) - The Cardinals magic number is 2 after their victory Sunday over the Washington Nationals.
Fans left Busch Stadium feeling a little better about the team's offense after it scored 10 runs.
Carlos Beltran hit 2 home runs, one from each side of the plate.
Some Cardinals fans met up with Rams fans who were celebrating their win over the Seattle Seahawks.
"The atmosphere in the Edward Jones Dome was absolutely electric," said one Rams fan.
"It's Fisher's era now," said another fan. "It (The Edward Jones Dome) was loud and everyone was excited."
Cardinals fans were celebrating and scoreboard watching. They were hoping the Los Angeles Dodgers would lose so the magic number would shrink to 1. That didn`t happen.
So with 3 games to go in the season, here`s where the playoff picture stands.
Any combination of Cardinals victories and Dodgers losses that adds up to 2 will result in the Cardinals securing a playoff spot.
The Cardinals end their regular season with 3 games against the Cincinnati Reds at Busch Stadium. The Dodgers host the San Francisco Giants for their final 3 regular season games.
The team clinching the final Wild Card would travel to Atlanta for one game playoff against the Braves. The winner of that game would advance into the Divisional Championship Series.
The St. Louis Rams play their next game Thursday night at the Edward Jones Dome against the Arizona Cardinals.
"A night game is great for business and we`re looking forward to playoffs, divisional and the World Series again this year," said Jim Barnes, manager of the downtown Caleco's.
If you don`t have a ticket to Thursday's Rams game you can watch it live on KPLR-11.
