ST. LOUIS, MO. (KPLR) – Born without arms, John Foppe has faced the challenge of living a life full of challenges.  He has had to learn things most people would take for granted.

His story of achievement has been an inspiration for many.  He authored a book and has given motivational talks across the country.  Last February, John was appointed the new executive director of St. Vincent de Paul in St. Louis.

"It's a tough job because there are a lot of different causes competing for resources and need knows no bounds," says Foppe

The man who has inspired many finds his inspiration in his co workers who tirelessly help others.  "These folks just do it quietly and they just get the work done.  It's amazing the selfless dedication they have.  To me it's just thrilling to work with them", says Foppe.

And the admiration is mutual.  "He is an inspiration.  He is an excellent administrator and has great skills, “says co worker Ann Kirwan.
