3 Men Honored For Helping Catch Carjacker

ST. LOUIS, MO. (KPLR) – Three St. Louis citizens were honored for their bravery Thursday.

Alexander Smith, Steven Dotson and Mark Hamrick stopped an attempted burglary and carjacking near the Botanical Gardens, according to police.

The three men restrained a suspect, who was choking a victim, until police arrived.

"I was just helping my fellow man," Smith said. "I am tired of crime happening in my neighborhood."

Each of the men will receive an award and check for $100.
