ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KPLR) - The last of the five inmates who escaped from the Pike County Jail in Bowling Green is back in custody. He was caught by St. Louis county police at the Oak Forest Apartments right off Lindbergh and Page near Maryland Heights.

Investigators say they got a call from a resident at the complex about 9:40pm last night saying there was a suspicious person in the area. When county police found him, it turned out be the escaped inmate. That escapee now back in custody is William john Thomas Wilkerson, Junior.  He is 40 years old and is from Florissant.

Investigators say Wilkerson was being held for failing to appear on a charge of stealing anhydrous ammonia back in 2008.  County police say there was a short foot chase when officers spotted Wilkerson but cops were able to get him.  The other four inmates who escaped were caught Monday.

Three were captured in Oklahoma; the other was caught near Bowling Green.
All five inmates escaped last Saturday night. They got out by removing a shower head and crawling through the small space.  That gave them access to another area which allowed them to escape.

Jail officials didn`t even know the escaped had taken place until they got a call from a family member of one the escapees reporting the incident.  Authorities don`t believe Wilkerson was armed when he was caught.  The Pike County Sheriff may release more information later today.
