(CNN) -The iPhone may get most of the media and tech geek attention. But according to the research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), Android phones dominated the market last quarter. I-D-C says smart phones powered by the Google-designed operating system accounted for 68-percent of the global market from April to June.
That's four times more than the market share held by Apple and its i-o-S system.
But that could be because Apple fans are always waiting for the next big upgrade. And it's rumored that the new iPhone 5 may come out in September.
Also worth noting, Blackberry shipments were down sharply in the quarter, to only about five percent of the market.
