SEATTLE, WA. (CNN) - With a two-point-five-million-dollar donation, Amazon founder and CEO is backing same sex-marriage.  Jeff Bezos and his wife announced the donation for the issue they say they feel strongly about.  Their contribution is believed to be the largest individual donation to protect same-sex marriage.

The money is going to Washington United for Marriage, a coalition working to uphold the state's same-sex marriage law.

You'll remember, the measure passed in the legislature earlier this year.  But it could be overturned when it goes up for a vote in November.

Washington United for Marriage says Bezos' donation doubles the organization's funds.

The Amazon founder's donation follows a same-sex marriage campaign launched earlier this month by Google.
