I don't consider my job a real outdoor job. I'm not outside the entire time but there are those who do that type of work and so I think it's worth giving them a little credit.
This week I covered a power outage that tied up Ameren Missouri crews for hours.
I've seen firefighters wilt after suiting up and fighting that massive apartment fire in the Central West End.
In both those cases police officers had to divert traffic which left them standing in the heat for hours.
Those are all "real" outdoor jobs.
So to anyone who must be out in this heat, be careful. I feel your pain, even if I don't feel it as much as you do.
