ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - I brought my chair to this softball field because this is how I'll be spending my Father's Day.

I'll be watching my daughter play softball with my Dad.

Should be a great day.

And to be honest, that's really all I want for Father's Day. But here's the deal. We have to pretend we want a gift because we gave Mom a gift on Mother's Day.

It just wouldn't be fair for us not to receive a gift on Sunday.

Here's why most of us are not interested in receiving a gift at all. First of all, men are creatures of habit. Throw in a day when we're receiving gifts throws us off ... We're not used to it.

Secondly, we don't like trying anything new. But gift fivers seem to think they have to buy us something we don't have.

Don't do it. And remember what we really want. Just to spend time with our family.

I'm JB and that's the way it oughta be.
