ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - There new upscale address for seals at the St. Louis Zoo. It includes salt water pools, underwater viewing and a 35 foot walk through tunnel.

"What we've actually done is combine two venues here at the zoo.  We used to have the sea lion arena at the top of the hill and then we had the sea lion basin that had been here since 1919." said  mammal curator Steve Bircher.

The 18-million dollar sea lion sound gets a little inspiration from Seattle, WA.

The zoo will use about 250,000 gallons of water in the Sea Lion Sound. There`s a stage that extends into the audience, a high dive, a slide and all this happened without interrupting the other exhibits.

Sometimes as many as 30,000 people have been moving by this working construction site. Trust me when i say there`s plenty of areas to entice you to see the sea lions and seals.
