Who Won The Winning Ticket In Red Bud?

RED BUD, IL (KPLR)– Rumors are rampant in Red Bud Illinois.  Everyone wants to know who won a third of the huge Mega Millions Jackpot. Officials knew early Saturday morning the ticket was sold in Red Bud but the winner has yet to come forward to claim a share of the $640 million dollar prize.

At the Moto Mart sales of all lotto games are on the rise.  Store Manager Denise Metzger said, “I think they’re thinking lightning is going to strike twice and this is a lucky spot.”

The store may indeed be lucky.  Hours after the Mega Millions announcement someone bought a $20 scratch-off ticket and won $4000.

So who won the big jackpot?  No one is saying but there are plenty of rumors.  Mary Koester is the editor of the local paper, she said, “Maybe biggest story ever in Red Bud I’m not 100 percent sure.”  It will be the top story when the weekly publishes on Wednesday,  Koester added, “There’s so much attention on Red Bud internationally nationally.”

The company that owns Moto Mart will receive $500,000 for selling the ticket.  The company plans to give $50,000 to the Moto Mart employees in Red Bud.  Nine workers will get a stake in the fifty grand.

The winner of Mega Millions game may not be known for months, the winner has a year to claim the big prize money.
