A teenage Wildwood girl has been charged in the case of the abandoned new born baby. The infant was discovered in the side yard of an Ellisville home February 16th; the six pound boy was wrapped in blood towels.

Police now say 19 year old Kaitlin Taylor Norton is charged with one count of child abandonment and one count of endangering a child.  If convicted, Norton could be sentenced to 22 years in prison.  Her bond is set at $40,000.

Norton and her mother live in an upscale Wildwood neighborhood.  No one answered the door at the home.  Neighbors declined to be interviewed on camera but one man said Kaitlin Norton is a “good respectable young lady.”

Sgt. Nancy Walker had this to say about the suspect, “She’s been very cooperative from the very beginning.”  She added, “I don’t know all the specifics right now but I don’t believe she was trying to harm the baby.”

According to police reports Norton works as a receptionist as a hair salon in Chesterfield.  A person who answered at the salon had no comment.
