This afternoon a KC 135 Stratotanker from the Illinois National Guard 126th Refueling Wing at Scott Air Force Base was conducting tactical training exercises over the St Louis region when pilots noticed a warning for a hydraulic problem.  This particular problem can lead to nose gear control issues.
The pilots did not dump or burn fuel, but radioed the emergency and was cleared to land at MidAmerica Airport on runway 14 left.  The pilots compensated for the hydraulic issues by adjusting flap settings… and made a normal landing at the airport.
The 126th Refueling Wing is one of the five commands assigned to Scott AFB and provides air refueling support to major commands of the Air Force as well as other U.S. Military forces.
